"Collage and the combination of mixed media is a natural way for me to begin a new work. Layering drawing, painting, monotypes and found imagery from photographs and print media allows for unpredictable possibilities. In the creative process, unseen aspects of personality emerge and fade. I begin each new work without a preconceived idea of what will happen and discover the narrative as the layers of collage are added. The personal nature of portraiture, combined with abstract collage, allows the artist and viewer to interpret the piece from their own perspectives, which gives them both their own unique experience.
