Cyclical

"My recent series of collages explores this cyclical nature of women. The elegance of portraiture contrasts and combines with mechanical evidence, referencing the clockwork march of inevitability through feminine existence. The creation of a collage allows me to exploit juxtaposition: the dual nature of beauty and violence, darkness and light, reproduced and hand-made, stolen and invented. In this way, I can combine disparate images that depict the dual nature of a physical portrait with an internal portrait, drawing upon the positives and negatives inherent in the heart and head. I am drawn to the spirituality of the circle, the cycle, the halo and idea of the never-ending. The images in my collages and show push and pull, self and anti-self, war and peace, life and death, positive and negative, and violence with peace through opposing imagery in overlapping circles.”
