"There is something about sand, ocean, sunsets and the mystery of mermaids that never ceases to inspire me. Add this to a background as a figurative artist and a love of the element of surprise, and you will understand my sand sculptures and the photographs I take to document them. These fleeting creatures come into being for a brief moment before disappearing into the water at high tide. The resulting photographs are the only concrete proof of their existence. Although beaches and sunsets have been photographed many times, by countless people, the ephemeral nature of my sand sculptures make for unusual photographs as they stop time, capturing a moment that will never return."
